Do boys and girls have to share the same bathroom in the shared facilities?
No, girls and boys are always placed on separate floors when there are shared bathroom facilities. All bathrooms are clearly marked for male and female genders.
Do you supply toilet paper and soaps?
No, each student must bring their own bathroom amenities and their own kitchen utensils. A starter pack is available for purchase on request.
Can we bring our own heaters and kettles?
No, for both all rooms have wall mounted heaters already fitted. There are hot water boilers in each kitchenette and in the main common kitchen with hot water permanently available.
If data is free, how do you control data abuse by certain students?
All data usage is monitored by our service provider. If we see that a student is abusing the free data, we can automatically limit his/her usage.
Are the residences affected by load shedding?
No, your studies won’t be interrupted. We are currently installing inverters with sufficient battery backup across our residences to ensure that the Wi-Fi, essential lighting, and surveillance cameras remain fully operational during power outages.
How safe and secure are the residences?
The safety and security of our students is of prime importance to us. Our residences feature 24-hour security, surveillance cameras (which remain operational during power outages), and secure access control to ensure a safe, comfortable environment where you can focus on your studies.
Are the residences located near public transport and universities?
Yes, all of our residences are conveniently located near educational institutions, hospitals, and major public transport nodes (including train stations, MyCiTi bus routes, and minibus taxi corridors). For example, our Observatory residence falls directly on the shuttle bus route, making your daily commute as seamless as possible.
Do I need to pay for gym access?
No, staying fit is part of the Park Central Lifestyle! Each of our residences has its own gym with modern equipment. We also provide free gym, aerobics, strength, and step classes twice a week for all our students at no additional cost.
Are the residences NSFAS accredited?
Yes, Park Central Lifestyle is currently accredited with CPUT and UWC, and we have associations with NSFAS and UCT. We are committed to providing affordable, high-quality student accommodation that meets the necessary standards.
Are sleep overs allowed?
No, sleep overs are not allowed.
Do you clean our rooms?
No, the cleaning staff are only responsible for the common areas, common bathrooms, and common kitchens. You are responsible for keeping your room clean and hygienic.
